Christiana Alkire

Christiana Alkire, age 41, of West Haven passed away sadly and suddenly on March 22, 2024, in South Carolina.  She was born in New Haven, daughter of Maria Borrero of West Haven and the late Glenn Alkire.  Christiana is also survived by her beloved son Josiah Alkire of West Haven, her siblings Samuel Alkire of LA, Rachel Tessier of CA, Sarah Alkire of New Haven, Caleb Alkire of Japan, and Barnaby Alkire of West Haven, five nephews and three nieces.  Also left behind are her aunt Mildred Savage, her cousins Esther Casiano and Leonor Jean-Gilles, and multiple second cousins. She was preceded in death by her uncle Victor Sanchez.

Christiana was a proud military Veteran, serving and then later retiring from the USMC.  Upon her return home, she was very active in many organizations helping other veterans.  She always lived by the motto: “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”  She was very proud of her Hispanic heritage.  Christiana adored visiting the beach and would sometimes bring her fishing pole with her.

Christy lived loudly and passionately, just like she loved others. She was a dreamer; she was dedicated to helping others, and she would give you the shirt off her own back if she could. Christy was willful and braver than most. The pain of losing her is unbearable but we have comfort in knowing she is finally at peace.
