Charlotte (Valente) Giovanelli of Guilford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. She was 95 years old. She was the loving wife to the late Essio (“Ace”) Giovanelli. Charlotte was born on May 1, 1924, in New Haven, CT. She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Agnes VanLou Valente. Charlotte grew up in New Haven, CT, she was predeceased by her 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She was the center of a large family, the loving mother of the late Wayne (Carol) Giovanelli, the late Bruce (Karen) Giovanelli, and Glen (Jean) Giovanelli. Charlotte was “Nonnie” to seven grandchildren, Ross (Vanessa) Giovanelli, Andria Giovanelli, Bruce (Tristen) Giovanelli, Lisa (Matt) Zuba, Scott Giovanelli, Megan (Jeff) Doble, and Jeffery (Irene) Giovanelli and twelve great-grandchildren, Marco Giovanelli, Marsay and Brielle Giovanelli, Kallie, Emerson, and Beckett Zuba, Evan, Emma, and Essio Giovanelli, Alexander and Giuliana Doble, and Veronica Giovanelli. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Charlotte is also survived by sister-in-law Fran Giovanelli and sister-in-law Gloria Young and many loving nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was full of life and thoroughly enjoyed gathering family and friends together over the years whether it be for holidays, birthdays, pool parties, or trips to the casino. In her earlier years, Charlotte was an avid golfer and was involved in Our Lady of Victory Church when her sons attended school there. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting her famous afghans which gave to so many of her family and friends. She was adored not only by her family but also endearingly known as “Nonnie” to so many of grandchildren’s friends. She made a lasting impression on all those she met.

Her loving and welcoming spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 10-11:30am. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12noon in Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
