It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Joseph Higgins, Jay to some, JJ to others. He was 44 years old. As a loving husband, father, son, brother, colleague and friend to so many, he will missed by his wife Stacey Schacht, his son Michael J., his parents Martin and Rose Marie LaVelle Higgins, Sr., siblings Martin and Suzanne (Rob), nieces and nephews Alexis Higgins, Bobby, Stephanie and Tayia Coleman, great niece Alnaya Via and mother-in-law Sharon Goby. Jay was predeceased by his infant son William and father-in-law Hyman Mark Schacht.
At the time of his passing, James was employed by Fiserv, Wallingford as a technical support engineer. When he was a young teenager, his interest in computers began and never stopped. He created and maintained, as a volunteer, the websites and working systems for WHEAT and for the West Haven Interagency Network for Children. Call him a computer geek, a computer genius, he was both. He was an amazing husband and father, and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will take place on FRIDAY evening from 5 to 8 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, James’ family has designated two charities that were very dear to him and to them-West Haven Interagency Network for Children, Attention: Bob Morton, 355 Main Street, West Haven or to WHEAT, 674 Washington Avenue, West Haven 06516.
