Jane M. (Healy) Carolla

Jane Mary Elizabeth Carolla, 94, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2019. Jane was born on July 10, 1925 in New Haven, CT, to the late William & Jane Desanto Healy. Beloved wife to the late Joseph A. Carolla, Jane is survived by her sister-in-law, Gail Healy, loving nieces and nephews, Jayne (Fred) Schroeder, Connie Benlock, William Healy III (Lucia Piscitello), great nieces and nephews, Alexsandra, Patricia, William IV, Angela, Jane, Megan, great-great nephews, Joshua and William, step-children, Josephine (Frank) Mello, Laura (The late Nicholas) Carolla, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, brother, William Healy, and great-niece, Kaylee Schroeder.

Jane attended New Haven Public Schools as a child, and graduated from West Haven High School, class of 1943. She then went on to attend Albertus Magnus College, and then New Haven State Teachers College, in 1956, with a Bachelor of Science degree, in Education. In 1959, Jane graduated from Southern Connecticut State College, with a Master of Science degree, in Education, and then went on to graduate with a Sixth Year Professional Diploma in Public School Administration and Supervision, in 1963, from the University of CT. Jane taught primary grades 1-3 in the New Haven Public School System for 26 years, retiring in June of 1982. Jane also worked as a supervising teacher for Southern CT State College from 1957 – 1970. Jane was a member of AARP, through the Association of Retired Teachers, as well as a member of The New Haven County Association of Retired Teachers.

Visitation will take place on Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 AM at The West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11AM, at Precious Blood Parish, in St. Agnes Church, Woodmont. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
