Amilcare “Mike” Ricci, 78, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2019, surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Cartoceto, Italy, son of the late Bruno & Maria Serafini Ricci. Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol McKenna Ricci, and his brother Ulderico “Rick” Ricci. He was the father of Michael Ricci & Nichole Politza, Christine Ricci & Kevin Cribley, Lisa Ricci-Boyle & Robert Boyle, and Todd Stockwell; grandfather of Christopher & Kendra, Colt, Stoney, Renee and Kyle; and great grandfather of Christopher III. Mike also leaves his beloved dog, Abby.
Mike graduated from Derby High School in 1959. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, from 1963 until 1969 with HQ 9th Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st Class, and receiving a Good Conduct Medal. Mike was the co-owner of NRE Auto Electric in Hamden for over 30 years; this instilled in his children, a strong work ethic, responsibility, integrity, and a sense of pride in his accomplishments.
He was a family man, beloved friend, and will be deeply missed. Mike was an avid bowler who proudly bowled three perfect games and won multiple league championships. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. As a founding member of the Suburban Sportsmen’s Association and a member of The Guilford Sportsmen’s Association Mike shared his love of hunting and nature with his children and grandchildren.
The hours for visitation will take place on Monday from 4 – 7 o’clock, at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 7 o’clock. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to Smilow Cancer Center, or CT Brain Tumor Alliance (www.ctbta.org).
