ANDREW R. PERFETTO, SR. 94, father of Andrew R. Perfetto, JR. of San Rafael CA, entered into rest on August 13,2024. Andrew was the son of the late John and Mary Petrillo Perfetto. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Mary Chaltas Perfetto and also their eldest loving son, John. He was also predeceased by his sisters Edith Andrew, Mary (Marion) Crocco and Eleanor Perfetto, He leaves his very caring niece, Andrea Crocco Duarte, as well as family relatives and friends. Andrew was born in New Haven, CT and attended area schools which included St. Rose grammar, Sheridan Jr. High and New Haven (Hillhouse) High School graduating in its class of 1947. He then attended the University of Connecticut graduating in 1951 with a B.A. degree. Andrew entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean Crisis in 1953 and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, MD as a medical technician in its Epidemiology Research Unit. After honorable discharge, he attended the University of New Haven and studied Materials Engineering. He also took graduate courses in education at the Teachers College of Columbia University. In 1956 he joined the Engineering Department at the Sikorsky Aircraft Division of United Technologies and was employed there for thirty-six and-a-half years ending his career as a Senior Materials Engineer. After retirement in 1992, Andrew and Mary participated in many happy and interesting leisure-time activities which included birding, astronomy, quilting, painting and drawing, music and photography.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Infant Church on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10am. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery. West Haven Funeral Home at the Green has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials of Andrew to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 202 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the charity of one's choice.
