Anibal Brito, 78, of West Haven entered into rest on July 1, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in Faro, Portugal, he came to the United States during the 1970s. A self-employed electrical contractor, “Coach”, as he was affectionately nicknamed, was the owner of the former Elm City Electric, which he operated for over 40 years. Anibal was an avid soccer fan, and coached during his time in the Portuguese army, where he served in Africa. He enjoyed watching professional games, but he took exceptional pride in attending his granddaughters’ games and giving pointers whenever he could. He enjoyed visiting his native Portugal during the summer months, spending time with his family, and making many beautiful memories there. Anibal leaves his daughter Kristina (Donato) Cappetta, two adored grandchildren Mariella and Luciana Cappetta, his companion Dee Gherlone, two sisters Maria do Carmo Correia (Anselmo) and Irene Brito and his former wife Judith Brito. He was predeceased by his brother Francisco Brito, father Manuel Brito, and mother Natividade.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday morning July 9, 2024 from 8:30 to 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Parish, St. John Vianney Church at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lorenzo’s Christmas Wish, 188 Boston Post Rd., West Haven, CT. 06516.
