Aniello Cappetta of West Haven passed away Monday February 21, 2022, at his home with his family at his bedside. He was the husband of the late Palma Malangone Cappetta. Father of Luigi (Kristyn) Cappetta, Rosa (Pasquale) Armellino, Donato (Kristina) Cappetta and Maria (Michael) Spera, grandfather of Carmela and Michael Armellino, Aniello Cappetta (deceased), Michael V. and Matteo Spera, Mariella, Donato Robert, Luciana and Palma Cappetta. One of 13 children, he leaves his siblings Salvatore and Gerardo Cappetta and Filomena Malangone and Raffaela, Guiseppina, Giovana, Carmela, Nicola, Maria, Biagina and Antonetta in Italy. Born in Acerno, Italy, he was a son of the late Luigi and Biagina Giannattasio Cappetta, and Rose DeMarco Cappetta. Also survived by his nieces, nephews and extended family here and in Italy. He was predeceased by his brother Donato.
Aniello proudly served in the Italian Air Force. In 1989, Aniello and his late wife Palma started Cappetta’s Italian Imports in Allingtown. The business continues to thrive today under the direction of their family. He was a member of the Napoli Club and the Italian-American Club, East Haven. In 2019 he was recognized by the West Haven Italian American Club as its Man of the Year.
The hours for visitation will take place on Thursday from 4 to 8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. The procession will leave the funeral home Friday morning at 9 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church at 9:30. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
