Ann "Nonny" Peverada, 101, of West Haven, died peacefully at home on February 5, 2024. Born in New Haven on May 16, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Milone Cappella. She is survived by her sons Robert (LuAnne) Peverada of West Windsor, NJ; Gus (Susan Kennedy) Peverada of Branford, CT; and daughter Mary (Michael) Tighe of South Easton, MA. Ann also leaves three cherished granddaughters, Talia, Amelia, and Katharine; and two great-grandsons, Robert, and Peter. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard Peverada; her handsome twin brother Vincent “Hank” Cappella; as well as her loving sister Antoinette “Nettie” Battipaglia.
Ann was the life of every party, and her love of dance was well known. She was particularly skilled in the Jitterbug. She was a trained stenographer and worked for the Navy in her early twenties but left to marry and start a family. When her children were older, she returned to office work at Harloc Corporation in West Haven for over twenty years before retiring. Besides dancing, Ann enjoyed “solving” crosswords, and was an ardent lover of red wine and chocolate and she never missed an opportunity to have both.
Non’s dance card is full once again.
Arrangements have been entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 12 at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish. Attendees are asked to meet directly at church. Interment will immediately follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
