Anne L. Vendola, age 82, of East Haven passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2021. She rejoins her lifelong sweetheart and late husband, John M. Vendola Sr. Anne was born in New Haven, daughter of the late Rudolph and Theresa Acampora Mueller. She is survived by her children, John M. (Corrine Boni-Vendola) Vendola Jr. of Wallingford, Jeanna (John) Park of Lake Forest, IL, and Cindy (Vinny) Amaru of Milford, and her grandchildren, Ray (Christy) Collins and Michael and Alex Park. Anne was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel and Sonny Mueller.
For over 25 years, Annie worked at the local Bradlees department store, and with her affable and outgoing personality, she quickly met many of her lifelong friends. Affectionately known to her family as Nonnie, she was a loving, selfless and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Prior to her long battle with Alzheimer’s, she enjoyed crafts, flower arranging, traveling, and spending time reading and playing with her grandchildren. Until she fell into her last sleep, Annie maintained her youthful attitude and sense of humor, which often involved a good prank. Her deep compassion and empathy for others was the trademark of her generous spirit, and extended to encompass furry friends. She was known to often rescue bedraggled animals, earning her the nickname of Dr. Doolittle in the family.
Visitation will be held on FRIDAY from 9-10:30am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will take place in the funeral home at 10:30. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum.
