Anthony DiMassa, 93, of West Haven, entered into rest on January 28, 2026. Born in New Haven on May 23, 1932, a son of the late Salvatore and Carmel Celentano DiMassa. Anthony is survived by daughters Debra (Rich) Bettley and Diane DiMassa; as well as his great-granddaughter Olivia Miller, whom he was delighted with, and who also adored "Papa Skip." They had a wonderful connection that everyone enjoyed. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by brother Joseph DiMassa and sister Pauline Faughnan.
Anthony lived a rich, full, family-centered life in West Haven. His first job was as a pin boy at the duckpin bowling alley. Anthony played horseshoes and bocci at the local field, and his passions included the beach, baseball, music, and food. He rooted for the Red Sox and the Giants, and his taste in music ran from opera to Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR). Anthony loved watching old westerns and game shows on television. Although he was often quiet, Anthony was an attentive listener.
Anthony was adored by everyone he met because of his gentle disposition and humble nature. His greatest joy was giving to others, and Anthony was the rare, genuinely open-hearted person who always left you smiling after sharing even a short time together.
Anthony’s absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable presence.
In accordance with Anthony’s wishes, all services were private. Please consider honoring his memory by enjoying one of his favorite activities and celebrating the gifts that he shared with this world.
