Anthony “Tony” Simoes, Sr., 87, of West Haven, entered into rest on August 12, 2022. Tony leaves his wife of 62 years, Corinne “Corky” (Traczyk) Simoes, three children Anthony (Gladys) Simoes, Jr., Alonna Simoes, Eric (Dawn) Simoes; five grandchildren Stephen Simoes, Craig Massella, Kyle, Ryann and Jason Simoes; and two sisters Dolores Piascik and Vera Ruggiero. From a family of ten children, he is now predeceased by siblings Julia Jacobs, Anna Suraci, Molly, Manny, Americo, Carlo and Maria Simoes, son Michael Anthony Simoes, and granddaughter Shaylin Massella.
Tony proudly served in the Unites States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1957. He worked for the Armstrong Rubber Company of West Haven for sixteen years, and upon their closing, transferred to Saab-Scania Automobile Company, where he worked as a warehouse attendant until his retirement in 1997. His daughter’s dog “Lexi” held a particularly special place within Tony’s heart, and he will be forever missed by those he leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:30 to 12:30, at which time a funeral service will commence in the funeral parlor. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of his funeral service. Interment will remain private.
