Anthony M. Zumbo Jr.

Anthony Michael Zumbo, 88, of Orange, CT, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023 at Branford Hills after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Anthony served his country faithfully in the U. S. Air Force and worked for Spear-Newman, Inc. for many years and also worked at Yale University. He enjoyed bird & squirrel watching, watching the UCONN Ladies Huskies basketball team & making homemade pizza.  His family and friends will miss his quick wit, charm & sense of humor.

Anthony “Tony” was born in New Haven, CT on November 20, 1935. A son of the late Anthony and Jennie Verzi Zumbo.  He leaves behind his wife, Eleanor Madeska Zumbo, along with their children Lisa Camera, Theresa Zumbo and Karen Zumbo.  Predeceased by two sons, Marc Anthony Zumbo and Anthony Zumbo.  Also predeceased by former wife, Jane Zumbo with whom they shared daughter, Pamela D’Amato.  Proud Grandfather to Alissa Stipa, Jessica Camera, Lindsey Camera, Cassandra Zumbo, Andrea Zumbo and Anthony M. (Ford) Zumbo, and great grandchildren, Isabella, James, Aidan, Jacob and Blaise. Loving & Fun Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tony was a wonderful brother to six sisters who spoiled him royally.  He leaves behind his sisters, Theresa Sullo, Ruth Amarante and Ida Buchina. Predeceased by sisters, Catherine Raccio, Carmela Wiley and Ann Zumbo. 

A special thank you to all of Anthony’s family caregivers, especially his niece Francine (Sullo) Oliva, who was with him throughout his courageous battle and gave him exceptional loving care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 10am – 12pm at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Interment will be private.
