Arlene Ann Johnson, 88, entered into eternal rest on May 3rd, 2026 at Montowese Rehabilitation Center in North Haven. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Ronald Johnson. A longtime resident of West Haven, Arlene was born on June 14, 1937 in New Haven, a daughter of the late Mary Grant Bergen and Harold Bergen. She leaves her daughter Victoria (Bob) Clifford, son Dean (Stephanie) Schwartz, stepchildren Cheryl (Kathleen) Johnson, Lynn (Pam) Johnson, Robert Johnson. five grandchildren Amy (Nick) Grossmann Zachary (Dennie) Clifford, Lindsay (Braedon) Dowty, Jillian Schwartz, Jason Giannotti and two great grandchildren Faith Clifford and Morgan Clifford. In addition to Ron and her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her brother Robert Bergen.
Arlene graduated in 1956 from West Haven High School. She grew up at Savin Rock with many friends and loved to share stories of Savin Rock in its' heyday. She worked as a secretary/receptionist for most of her life. Spending time with her family, listening to music, dancing, enjoying wine and painting were some of her favorite things to do, in addition to walks on the beach with Ron. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved sharing it with others. A member of the West Haven Senior Center, she often participated in line dancing at West Haven City Hall.
In accordance with Arlene’s wishes, all services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Haven Animal Shelter.
