Barbara Ann Bridge, age 68, of West Haven passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2024. She was born in Stamford, CT daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Bridge. Barbara is survived by her family, Billy Bridge, Jimmy Bridge, and John Whalen-Bridge, as well as her West Haven Community House family.
Barbara found her home at the West Haven Community House in 1984 where she was able to learn the skills to live on her own as independently as possible. In 1995, she moved into her first apartment where she was able to dance to her favorite music (Classical), watch horror movies, and complete her crossword puzzles. Barbara enjoyed attending West Haven Adult Education classes, participating in West Haven Special Olympics (Track & Field) and traveling. She loved going to the Bahamas, a Royal Caribbean Cruise and attending Camp Horizons.
Barbara touched so many lives over the years. She kept her senior years busy at Community Connections, enjoying spending time with her peers and taking part in local recreational activities such as casino day, coffee hour and getting her exercise in. If Barbara could, she would want to thank the many staff who helped her succeed throughout the years, especially from her Wood Street home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11:30am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, with a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:30am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, individuals can donate to the West Haven Community House Endowment Fund in memory of Barbara Bridge at 227 Elm Street, West Haven, CT 06516.
