Beverly B. Emerson

Beverly B. Emerson, age 81, of Wallingford, formerly of West Haven, passed away on November 10, 2023. She was the loving wife of Robert Emerson.  Beverly was born in New Haven, daughter of the late Robert and Florence Pierce Bates. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Robert (Joanne) Guthrie of West Haven, Joanne (Tim) Clark of Middlefield and Michael Guthrie of West Haven; her grandchildren, Alyssa Emerson, Brittany (Shaun) Coppola, James, Patrick, and Emily Guthrie; and her great grandson William.  Beverly was predeceased by her first husband James Guthrie. 

She was an avid fan of the UCONN Husky Basketball & the Boston Red Sox.  Beverly enjoyed her daily inspiration of the Catholic Mass on television, while praying for her friends and family. She loved her trips to the casino, drinking Pepsi, listening to the police/fire scanner, talking on the phone and watching birds out the living room window. Beverly enjoyed her cats Ginger & Stormy, shopping on QVC and loved keeping up with politics on the news. In her younger years she could be found dancing the night away to 50/60’s music at Brian’s Place, helping out with the PTAs at her kids’ schools & throwing a summer party in her backyard where she met her husband.

The hours for visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4–7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10am. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
