Blanche M. ("Tootsie") Dorsi

Blanche M. Dorsi of Garden City, NY, passed away on June 27, 2024 at home.  Born in New Haven on April 25,1924, she was a daughter of the late A. Nicholas and Mary Mattei Dorsi; beloved aunt of Mary (Neil) Collins, Eugene N. (Jean) Dorsi, Rev. Elizabeth A. Dorsi, and Attorney Paul J. Dorsi. Predeceased by her brother Attorney Eugene J. Dorsi, sister Anne M. Dorsi, and sister-in-law Helen Dorsi.  Known by those close to her as “Tootsie,” Blanche earned her bachelor’s degree in education at UCONN and worked her entire career as an elementary school teacher, first in West Haven at Stiles, and then on Long Island until retirement. She was a world traveler, film lover, NYC enthusiast, and lifelong avid reader. Tootsie shared her passions with her nieces and nephews, treating them to summer visits in NY and introducing them to the wonders of the city she loved. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Garden City and a proud member of her beautiful community.

The hours for visitation will take place on Monday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Her funeral service will commence in the funeral home at 11 AM.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
