Camille Gravante, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 24, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Gravante of New Haven, CT.
Camille was born on November 6, 1928 in New Haven, CT. She graduated from New Haven High School and worked at the Southern New England Telephone Company as an operator, Newton Casting Company as an administrative assistant, and as a bank clerk for many years. Camille (Millie) filled her life with making memories during the holidays. She relished in family gatherings that boasted bounties of her homemade Italian fare and the sound of her healthy laugh that could fill any room.
Camille enjoyed singing, and she had a natural ability to play the organ. She often took spontaneous trips to the casino with her late husband Frank, and always loved a good game of bingo. Camille volunteered her time setting-up the congregate lunch site several days a week at Surfside in West Haven, and she was a member of the Allingtown Senior Center.
Besides her daughters, Donna Cabana and her husband Don of Southbury and Andrea Vanvalkenburg of Sevierville, TN, she leaves her grandson George Vanvalkenburg, his wife Lisa and their two daughters, her beloved great grandchildren, Ella and Claire of Cheshire, CT. She also leaves her granddaughter Tammy Fiorillo and her husband Daniel Sosnowski of West Granby, CT, granddaughter Jennifer Fiorillo of Naugatuck, CT and grandson Kevin Vanvalkenburg of Hollister, MO. She is predeceased by her late husband of 62 years, Francesco Gravante, her parents Mary and Frederico Vitale of New Haven, CT and her sisters Philomena Gambardella and Josephine Oliverio.
