Carmela Zanes of Orange, Connecticut passed to eternal peace on November 6, 2021. She was born in New Haven in 1926 to Clotilde & John Rispoli. She was predeceased by her two husbands Clifford A. Dudley and Robert P. Zanes, MD. She is survived by her sister Maria J. Giordano. She is also survived by her loving children Clifford J. Dudley, EdD and spouse Mary O’Gorman Dudley, and Clotilde J. Dudley Smith, EdD and spouse Ronald Smith. Carmela had three loving grandchildren Chloe T. Smith, Patrick J. Dudley, and Brandon T. Smith. She also leaves one loving nephew Pacific T. Giordano.
Mrs. Zanes graduated from West Haven High School and the University of Connecticut. She served for numerous years as a registered physical therapist. She loved travel, theatre, reading, and especially spending time with her families. She particularly loved the holidays, and hosted every major event until her children took over that responsibility. Carmela set high expectations for all around her, but also believed in providing loving support to help those expectations be achieved. She was never too busy to help family, friends, or those in need. All who knew her commented on her positive attitude, good humor, and welcoming smile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Infant Church in Orange on November 10, 2021 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice.
