Catherine Coyle Obituary

Catherine M. “Kay” Coyle, age 89, of West Haven passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 with her children at her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. “Bunny” Coyle, Jr.  Catherine is survived by her loving children, David F. (Valerie) Coyle, Mary (Matthew) Coyle Shaw, Ann (Michael) Coyle Smith, 6 grandchildren, Kaitlin and Kevin Coyle, Kelly and Colleen Shaw, Erin and Ryan Smith and her brother Paul Humason.  Born in New Britain on February 19, 1932, Catherine was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Feeney Mullen.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Thomas Mullen, Jr.

Catherine graduated from New Britain High School, and prior to marriage was employed by Travelers and S.N.E.T.  After spending many childhood summers at Prospect Beach she and Bunny settled in West Haven where they raised their family.  Catherine was a deeply religious women, and as a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, volunteered at its’ Clothes Closet and was a member of the church social group.  Irish traditions were very important to Catherine, and she devoted herself to being a wonderful and loving Mom and wife.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 14 (TODAY), from 4 to 7 pm at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Her procession will leave the funeral home Monday morning at 10 o’clock.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, Precious Blood Parish at 10:30.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and staff of Maplewood at Orange, Milford Hospital and Connecticut Hospice for their compassionate care.  In lieu of flowers donations can made to Connecticut Hospice in Catherine’s memory.
