Dawn E. (Colby) DeChamps, age 69, of West Haven, entered into rest peacefully on December 18, 2025. Born on July 3, 1956 in St. Johnsbury, VT. Dawn is survived by her beloved husband Robert W. DeChamps, her adored sons Patrick (Jacqueline) and Christopher (partner Heather Drake); three treasured grandchildren Emilia, Mia and Liam; siblings Cheryl (Michael) Duplessie, Michael (Donna) Colby, James (Melissa) Colby and Douglas (Krista) Colby and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Donald Colby and Jacqueline Papsin.
Dawn dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her family as a stay-at-home mother. She instilled strong senses of confidence, gratitude and empathy in her two sons. Her passion for painting ceramics and crocheting blankets has led to many cherished gifts for friends and family throughout the years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was also an avid fan of various sports, often watching games late into the night. As Dawn’s boys grew into young adults, she transitioned into the workforce at Stop & Shop in the video rental department. She was able to use her skills as a caring homemaker in her new position by making everyone she interacted with feel welcome. She made many new friends at her job, and whether you were a customer or a coworker, Dawn was always someone you visited to chat with.
Visitation will take place on Saturday March 21, 2026 between 10 am and noon at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A prayer service will begin in the funeral parlor at 11:30 am. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to the made to The American Cancer Society, cancer.org.
