Deborah Brandt Obituary

Deborah Sue Brandt, 64, entered into eternal rest of February 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Deborah was born February 18, 1960 in Bridgeport, CT. The daughter of the late Allie and Mary (Lynch) Shippy.

Deborah leaves behind her beloved husband John, of 42 loving years. They were inseparable in their youth and continued their friendship, love and commitment until the very end.

Deborah was the cherished mother of John (Jess) Brandt of West Haven and Katherine Brandt of Wallingford; proud Nana of Riley and Madilyn Parkin of Wallingford. She was devoted to her family and always there for her children and grandchildren.

After raising her children and caring for many families and friends, Debbie began her second career at Notre Dame High School of West Haven. She cherished her job over the years, and found so much fulfillment in their school events.

She enjoyed hosting family dinners, and is remembered for her homemade dishes. Her home was filled with dinner for eight on any given day, a Sunday sauce that was incomparable, and warmth and compassion for anyone who walked in the door. Debbie can be remembered for a crocheted blanket, a beautiful garden, a tall glass of wine and a compassionate friend, sister, aunt and wife. Her proudest title and biggest accomplishment, was held at Nana.

She is survived by her brother Buddy (MaryAnn) Shippy; sister Donna MacNeil both of West Haven, and leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Nancy Kranzl, Joan Barnes; her brothers Allie, Jack, Richard and Lawrence Shippy.

Our family would like to send a special thank you to the many doctors at Yale New Haven Hospital that have cared for our mother. Stephen Baldassarri, MD (ICU), Kathryn Mason APRN, Lajos Pusztai MD and the entire Smilow Oncology Department; for their tireless dedication.

Arrangements were entrusted to the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  Funeral services will be private. Gifts in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, https://cancer.org.
