Deborah Packer

Deborah “Deb” Packer age 65, of West Haven passed away on February 17, 2024.  Born on July 10, 1958, in Waterbury, CT, Deborah is survived by her guardian Diane Vece and her family at West Haven Community House.

Deb grew up in New Haven, CT and found her family home at the West Haven Community House in 1999, where she was able to learn the skills to live on her own as independently as possible. In the Spring of 2007, Deb transitioned from the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center Day Program to the Day Program at ARC in Milford where she worked on increasing her skill set and building relationships. Deb had been an active member of TEAM Arts & Crafts and Social Club. She enjoyed attending West Haven Adult Education classes and participating in Art Expressions with STEP Associates. She loved going on day trips and traveling with her friends, attending plays and enjoyed down time watching the Wizard of Oz.  

Deb touched so many lives over the years. She kept her senior years busy at Community Connections SMILE Program, enjoying spending time with her peers and taking part in local recreational activities. She shared with everyone her feisty personality, upbeat music and love for coffee. If Deb could, she would want to thank the many staff who helped her succeed throughout the years, especially from her Wood Street home.

Visitation will take place on Thursday from 10:30a-12pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, with a life celebration to be held at 11:30am.  Interment will be private. Instead of flowers, individuals can donate to the West Haven Community House Endowment Fund in memory of Deborah Packer Community Connections Fund at 227 Elm Street, West Haven, CT 06516.
