Diane Eleanor (Zacarelli) Handel

Diane Eleanor Zacarelli Handel, 77, of West Haven, entered into rest on May 1, 2024. Diane is the proud mother of two sons Victor (Charlotte) Handel and Joseph Handel; seven adored grandchildren, Dante (Abbye) Handel, Christian (Kathleen) Handel, Joseph Handel, Amber Kay, Jessica (Howard) Tang, Vincent Ouellet, Aimee (Barry) McPhail; and three precious great-grandchildren Ava Helen, Aidan, and Hudson.  She was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Sabatasso Zacarelli and her sister Sharon Zacarelli.

As an avid hockey fan from way back, Diane belonged to the New Haven Nighthawks Booster Club and was a season ticket holder.  She enjoyed her time at Savin Rock and the West Haven beaches, reminiscing about the past and sharing stories.  As a former lunch aide in the West Haven school system, Diane was delighted to take care of the school children.  A special time for her was sharing coffee and donuts with her son Joseph. A gentle heart, a kind word for all and seeing the best in everyone she met, Diane will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday May 17 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Parish at St. John Vianney Church on Saturday May 18 at 10 o’clock.  Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
