Donato Pasquariello, 83, a former resident of West Haven, died on August 26, 2023, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born on June 2, 1940, in Caserta, Italy, a son of the late Rocco and Angela Villano Pasquariello. Survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Anna Barecchia Pasquariello; loving daughters Angela (Jeffrey) VanArsdale of Durham, Maria (Daron Regnier) Pasquariello of Wallingford, and Donna (Michael) Lorenzo of Milford; grandchildren Ashley (Christopher) Lowe, Noah, and Hannah Lorenzo; great-grandchildren Natalia and Amelia Lowe; as well as his nephew Joseph Pasquariello. Predeceased by sisters Maria and Rosa Pasquariello; as well as brothers John, Pietro, and Michele Pasquariello.
Donato met the love of his life Anna in Italy, whereupon they married in 1965 and immigrated together to the United States on October 17, 1969. After nearly thirty-one years as a sheet metal worker with Metro North Railroad, he retired in 2002. Favored pastimes included playing cards, bocce, horseshoes, darts, listening to Italian music, gardening, foraging mushrooms, and making wine. Donato enjoyed many decades of engaging with friends and neighbors at both the Italian American Club as well as the Marchegian Club. At his favorite restaurants, he was known for his sense of humor and longtime quip of ordering spaghetti and meatballs “on the rocks” when asked for his food order. A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church of West Haven, Donato’s faith was strong and central to his life. Donato’s greatest pride was that of his family, and he will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to Rocco Pasquariello, for his unending care and love extended to Donato during his retirement years spent in Italy from 2004 to 2017, where he also leaves behind many extended family members.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from four to seven o’clock. His procession will depart the funeral home on Friday at nine-thirty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ten o'clock in St. John Vianney Church. Entombment will be private.
