Dorothy Louise (Jarmie) Flynn, 85, of West Haven, entered into rest on March 26, 2026. Born in New Haven on June 29, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (D’Abbraccio) Jarmie. Survived by her loving children Thomas J. Flynn, Mary (Timothy) Withington, Gerald (Melanie) Flynn, Karyn (Frank) Zavaglia, Catherine (Edward) Shea, and Patrick (Lorna) Flynn; grandchildren Michael, Kelsey, Edward Jr., Corey, Adam, Sarah, Alexandra, Nicholas, Christopher, Kelly, Melissa, Stephanie, Kevin, and Michael and her sister Lillian Jarmie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Gerald C. Flynn; grandson Kevin Patrick Withington; and siblings Joseph Jarmie and Georgianna Celotto.
A 1959 graduate of the James Hillhouse High School, Dorothy was an active member of the Rifle Team and Student Council Representative for each of her four years; she also served as Red Cross Representative. She later attended Albertus Magnus College and worked at Miles Pharmaceutical Co. for over 20 years.
In her younger years, Dorothy was a ballet dancer and loved working at her Uncle Angelo’s (DeSorbo) vegetable/flower market on Kimberly Avenue and the Blvd. Always active and engaged in a variety of interests throughout her adulthood, Dorothy enjoyed gardening and was a member of the West Haven Garden Club for many years, went bowling every Tuesday; she enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and arts and crafts. She relished in visiting her favorite vacation spots, Italy, Ireland, England, and Walt Disney World. Dorothy was lauded for being the best Italian cook “this side of the Pond.”
She will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Arrangements were entrusted to the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 4 to 7 o’clock. A prayer service will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral parlor. Interment will be private.
