Dorothy M. (Hart) McCarthy

Dorothy Hart McCarthy, 94, a lifelong resident of West Haven entered into rest on January 21, 2026.  She was the beloved wife of the late William A. McCarthy. Born in West Haven, Dorothy was the only daughter of the late Wilfred and Albena LaFrance Hart. Dorothy leaves a large and loving family including 5 children William (Nancy) McCarthy, Karen (Louis) Celone, Donna (Bill) Horobin, Linda (Rick) McCarthy-Vargo and John (Cathy) McCarthy; 12 adored grandchildren, 12 precious great grandchildren and 2 brothers Robert and Donald Hart.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by 3 brothers Arthur, Wilfred and Frederick Hart.

Along with her husband Bill, Dorothy owned the Casual Den, a retail store located in the center of West Haven.  For many years, she served as the banquet manager at the Ramada Inn.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & sister.  We find comfort in knowing she will be reunited with Bill.  However, she will be greatly missed.

The hours for visitation will take place on Tuesday January 27, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home.  On Wednesday morning, the procession will leave the funeral home at 9 o’clock.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII parish at 9:30.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
