Edward Palmer Obituary

Edward John Palmer, 82, husband of Jean Marie Palmer, of West Haven, passed away after a lengthy illness on March 20, 2025, with family by his side. Born on November 27, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT, to Edward and Gertrude (Murphy) Palmer. He graduated from Harding High School and the University of Bridgeport, and was employed by Dun and Bradstreet, retiring in 2005. Ed was a Vietnam War veteran who served 3 years in the US Army. A resident of West Haven since 1973, Ed was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victory, and later St. John Vianney Church.

Ed was a loving husband to Jean for 54 years who was extremely devoted to his family. Ed enjoyed doing crossword puzzles; playing solitaire, and watching his favorite sports teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Rangers. He would passionately tend to his vegetable garden, and he took joy in sharing its crops with neighbors. Ed was very handy around the house; he had a tool for everything and was always ready to solve a problem or help a family member in need. Although Ed was a very shy person who did not like the spotlight, he frequently struck up conversations while out in the community. He will be remembered most for his “dad jokes” and sense of humor.

In addition to Jean, Ed is survived by and dearly missed by his daughters Kimberly (Kevin) Rame, and Lisa (Ray) Cuff; grandchildren Lily Palmer and Marissa Cuff; brother Wayne Palmer, and sister Shauna Blaze. Along with his parents, brother Dennis Palmer predeceased Ed.

The family would like to express gratitude to his home hospice staff, and to all those who supported the family by providing food, sending prayers, and offering to help throughout his illness.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 24th from 4:00-7:00 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven.
