Ester Julia Peck

Ester Peck, de 87 años, falleció pacíficamente el 13 de febrero de 2025 en Hamden, Connecticut. Nacida el 13 de febrero de 1938 en Medellín, Colombia, Ester vivió una vida llena de amor, resiliencia y una profunda dedicación a su familia.

Le sobreviven sus amadas hijas: María, Beatriz y Gladys Otalvaro (Omar). Fue una orgullosa y devota mamita de Lina Otalvaro, Sindi Aloi (Peter), Jetsenny Candelaria (Daniel), Diego (Jocelyn), Cristian (Rachel), Karen y John Farley una bisabuela muy querida de Kevin, Camila, Shade, Knight, Ziah, Asher, Wesley, Mateo, Luna y Amilia. También deja atrás a muchos queridos sobrinos, sobrinas, familiares y amigos, quienes sentirán profundamente su partida.  Ester fue precedida en muerte por su madre, Carmen Londoño, sus adorados hijos, John y Álvaro Otálvaro, y sus hermanos Arturo, Manuel, Margarita y Ana Londoño.

Ester creció en Medellín, Colombia, y siempre tuvo una pasión por ayudar a los demás. Más tarde, emigró a los Estados Unidos en busca de mejores oportunidades, donde trabajó incansablemente para construir un futuro brillante para su familia. 

Ester tocó la vida de muchas personas con su bondad y compasión, dejando una huella imborrable en quienes la conocieron.

Ester era más feliz cuando estaba rodeada de su familia, compartiendo historias alrededor de una comida casera o cuidando su hermoso jardín. Era una cocinera excepcional, reconocida por sus deliciosos platillos colombianos, y disfrutaba transmitiendo sus recetas favoritas. También encontraba gran alegría alimentando a las aves que se posaban en la puerta de su apartamento.  Su familia siempre recordará su sabiduría tranquila, su risa contagiosa y su capacidad para hacer sentir a todos como en casa.

El legado de amor, fortaleza y generosidad de Ester vivirá por siempre en los corazones de quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

El horario de llamadas se llevará a cabo el lunes 17 de febrero de 4 a 7 p. m. en la funeraria West Haven en Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven.  Se celebrará una misa de cristiano entierro el martes por la mañana a las 10 en punto en la iglesia St. Louis de la parroquia St. John XXIII, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven.  El entierro será privado.

Ester Peck, 87, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Hamden, Connecticut. Born on February 13, 1938, in Medellín, Colombia, Ester lived a life full of love, resilience, and deep dedication to her family.

She is survived by her beloved daughters: María, Beatriz, and Gladys Otalvaro (Omar). She was a proud and devoted mamita to Lina Otalvaro, Sindi Aloi (Peter), Jetsenny Candelaria (Daniel), Diego (Jocelyn), Cristian (Rachel), Karen, and John Farley, and a cherished great-grandmother to Kevin, Camila, Shade, Knight, Ziah, Asher, Wesley, Mateo, Luna, and Amilia. She also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply feel her loss.  Ester was preceded in death by her mother, Carmen Londoño, her beloved sons, John and Álvaro Otalvaro, and her siblings Arturo, Manuel, Margarita, and Ana Londoño.

Ester grew up in Medellín, Colombia, and always had a passion for helping others. Later, she emigrated to the United States in search of better opportunities, where she worked tirelessly to build a bright future for her family.

Ester touched the lives of many people with her kindness and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.

Ester was happiest when surrounded by her family, sharing stories over a home-cooked meal or tending to her beautiful garden. She was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious Colombian dishes, and she loved passing down her treasured recipes. She also found great joy in feeding the birds that perched at the door of her apartment.

Her family will always remember her gentle wisdom, contagious laughter, and ability to make everyone feel at home.  Ester’s legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 17th from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Louis Church of St. John XXIII Parish, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven.  Interment will be private.
