Eugenie Florestal, 85, a pillar in her faith community, peacefully passed away on July 21st, 2025. She was born on June 1st, 1940, in Port-au-Prince Haiti. Eugenie’s unwavering faith guided her life and in her approach to building relationships.
As a mother of four and grandmother of eight, Eugenie instilled strong values and religious beliefs in her family. She led by example, ministering in prison and hospital in Haiti, and assisting her Pastor as a Deaconess at her local church.
Eugenie continuously offered prayer and support, not just for her children, but for countless others in need.
She is survived by her children Edson, Gordini, Jose, Natacha. Grandchildren Christopher, Christina, Alain, Terrence, Jeremiah, Ge’Ana, Layla, and Giovanni; sons and daughters in love, Alberte, Lauworna, Gelet, and Gerald; brother Yvon Florestal; cousin Raymonde Riche; goddaughters Joceline, Geralde, and Gina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Arrangements were entrusted to the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. Visitation will be held on the morning of Friday August 8th, 2025, from eight until nine o’clock in French Speaking Baptist Church of New Haven, 786 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT. A Celebration of Life will commence in the church from nine until eleven o’clock. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 871 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT.
