Frank "Butch" Buonocore

Frank "Butch" Dominic Buonocore, 88 years old of West Haven, passed away early Monday morning, November 4th, 2024 at his home in Branford. He was the husband of Carole (Lawson) Buonocore. Frank is survived by his son Michael Buonocore (Carolyn Brindisi), Gina Buonocore Maenza (James) and Vicki Caputo (Louis), nine grandchildren Stephani, Steven, Nicole, Michael, Mario, Gabriella, Demi Rose, Khiana, Santino and eight great grandchildren Kadence, Michael III, Jesse, Tatum, Tessa, Owen, Bella and Gianna. He was predeceased by his mother Jennie Amorese (Simeone), father Michael Buonocore and sister Madeline Buonocore.

Frank was known for operating Mike’s Apizza on Campbell Ave., a business that was started in 1942 by his late mother and father. A true legacy, Mike’s Apizza is a longtime landmark in West Haven where you can find multiple generations of family working together. Frank was always in the kitchen ready with a friendly smile and a meatball for all who needed one.  His son Michael, who worked by his side for the last 53 years still runs Mikes Apizza. He continues to serve great pizza and food to the people of West Haven! He loved his family and had a strong passion for music from past generations such as Frank Sinatra and old musicals which he often sang along to with his granddaughter Stephani. He continued to sing and enjoy food up until his passing.

The hours for visitation will take place on Tuesday evening, November 12th from 3pm to 7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church at 10 o’clock on Wednesday, November 13th.  Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
