Frank Louis Cardascio

Frank Louis Cardascio, 94, of West Haven, entered into rest on October 1, 2024.  The only son of the late Antonio and Rose Guzzo Cardascio, Frank was born in New Haven on April 18, 1930.  He graduated from West Haven High School in 1948.

He proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War (1951-1953).  During the war Frank was stationed in Germany and was responsible for repairing tanks and getting them ready for battle.

Frank devoted his career to the former Giordano Monument Co., where he worked as a stone setter. He was an avid New York sports fan, faithfully watching all the Rangers, Giants and his beloved Yankees games (during their good or bad years). Frank also loved to watch the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Frank leaves his sister Lorraine Cardascio; nieces and nephews Linda Giordano, Arlene (the late Jim) Hillas, John (Fran Gambardella) Onofrio, Dara Onofrio, Michael (Frank) Onofrio, Lisa (Tom) Morgillo, and Maria (Mike) Toohey; and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sisters Eleanor Onofrio, Joan Cardascio and Marie Giordano; brothers-in-law Dr. John Onofrio and Pacific Giordano, and nieces Donna (Onofrio) Nero and Debby Giordano.

On Tuesday October 8, 2024, all are invited to a graveside service in St. Lawrence Cemetery at 11 o’clock.  In addition to prayers, military honors will be rendered.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Frank’s name to either the West Haven Animal Shelter or to the Veteran Rideshare Program at the VA Hospital.
