Fred A. Morgillo, age 83, of West Haven passed away on May 23, 2023, at the Veterans Administration Hospital. For 54 years, he was the loving husband of Anna Mae Daurio Morgillo. Fred was born in New Haven, son of the late Anthony and Edna Hansen Morgillo. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Anthony Morgillo of Branford, Cynthia (David) Sportelli of Guilford, and Charles (Donna) DeMaio of North Carolina, his five grandchildren, Sarah (Nick Dagliere) Sportelli, Zachary and Emily Morgillo, Jason (Diane Respeto) and Joshua DeMaio, his great grandson Evan DeMaio, and his sister Patricia (Nick) Murano of Wallingford. Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Salvatore Morgillo and Carol Lauckner.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. For many years he was a computer programmer for Amtote Systems and also worked for the USPS until his retirement.
Fred was an avid fan of all sports, but especially loved baseball and the New York Mets and made many trips to New York to watch them play. He also coached youth baseball in West Haven for many years. He also enjoyed watching UCONN Women’s basketball. Fred loved animals and always had a dog. He also loved when his grand-dogs came to visit.
The family of Fred Morgillo would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital for the wonderful care he received.
The hours for visitation will be held on Wednesday May 31st from 5-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Interment will be private.
