George Duane Dixey, 89, of West Haven entered into rest on January 28, 2020. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on July 24, 1930, he was the second eldest son of the late John Edward and Mary Catherine Conneely Dixey. He attended Saint Columbkille School and Brighton High School, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Hawaii during the Korean War and subsequently went to Boston College on the GI Bill where he earned a BA in Economics. He spent his career in the building products and lumber industries. In retirement, he enjoyed studying Spanish, gardening, cooking, and strolling the Savin Rock Boardwalk. Mr. Dixey is survived by his daughter Mary S. Dixey of Easthampton, Massachusetts, son Jonathan Dixey of Boston, Massachusetts, grandson Ryan J. Williams, in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and his good friend Carmenza (Dolly) Stellato. He was predeceased by his daughter Joleen Williams and his former wife Barbara Ann (Walsh) Dixey. In accordance with his wishes, his cremains will be buried with military honors in In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford, Connecticut.
