George J. Petrucci, Jr., 93, died peacefully at Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on November 10, 2024. George was the older of two boys born to George and Margaret (Schultz) Petrucci. He was a long-time resident of West Haven, CT, and worked for Marlin Firearms for 25 years. George was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Angela (Sidera) and is survived by his brother Edward and his three nieces, Donna (Chris) Balogh, Deanna (Leonard) Gorski, Laurie (George) O'Shea and his brother-in-law Rev. Joseph Sidera, C.S.C.
Everyone who knew George knew of his lifelong love for model railroads and his meticulous detailing of his collection of model trains. He was also an avid keyboard player, though he often discounted his talent because he did not read music, but rather played by ear. He was a humble man who was also a man of quiet faith. Before his advanced age, he would regularly attend Mass at Saint Louis Church in West Haven.
During his last two years of life, George was wonderfully attended and cared for by Elizabeth Eddy. Her loving care was greatly appreciated by George. In the final weeks of his life, he was also assisted by the Knights of Columbus from Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Weston, CT, and their Women's Guild. Another friend of George faithfully attended him in his final days, Virginia Thompson, whose loving support brought him comfort and joy.
To the nurses and therapists at Lord Chamberlain; to the Knights of Columbus and Women's Guild members; and to all those who offered their time, resources, prayers and support, and especially to Elizabeth and Virginia, go our heartfelt gratitude and prayers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 15 at 10 o’clock at St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven. Interment with military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven.
