Grace Torino, 99, of West Haven, died on July 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born on April 28, 1926, a daughter of the late Mario and Giovanna (Bua) Maltese. Grace is survived by her cherished daughters Catherine (Peter) Baylis and Giovanna (Leonard) Marcello; beloved nephew David Maltese; grandchildren Allison (Elliott), Robert (Ivana), Timothy, Ariana (Stephen) and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 33 years, Alfred Torino, and eight siblings.
Grace met the love of her life, Alfred, through her best friend, Ann Sorbo. She became a wife, mother, and loving caregiver to all five of her grandchildren. Grace’s door was always open, and her home was always the setting for all the holidays. Making the Sunday sauce, sitting on her porch, having a good cup of coffee or a Klondike bar brought her joy.
The family would like to especially thank Terry Ann and Anita for their caregiving and compassion toward Grace.
Memorial donations in Grace’s name can be made to Connecticut Hospice in Branford or St. Lawrence School, West Haven.
Arrangements were entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, July 28, 2025, from four to seven o’clock. On Tuesday morning, all are requested to meet directly at St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
