Irene E. Vidal

Irene E. Vidal, age 96, passed away at home on February 3, 2024.  For 63 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Vidal.  Irene was born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Alfred and Louise Lamour Ritchie.  She is survived by her devoted children, daughter Louise Welch and her husband Laurence of West Haven, and son Joseph Vidal and his wife Patricia of North Haven, and her wonderful grandchildren, Jeffrey Vidal, Christian Vidal and Katie Vidal.  Irene is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Victoria Buhler, Kathleen Villano, Ross Constantino, Cynthia Ritchie and Marcia Ritchie.  In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Carman Ritchie, Marie McPartland, Ruth Constantino, and her dear sister-in-law, Helen, who she so enjoyed their phone conversations.

 

Irene was a caring, loving person, who was always interested in how others were doing and would give them her advice.  She loved reminiscing about the old days, which were so different than they are today.  She will be truly missed.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30am – 11am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, with a funeral service in the funeral home at 11am.  Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, New Haven.  Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
