Irwing (Joe) D'Costa

Irwing Joseph D’Costa of West Haven, CT died on Wednesday evening, July 31, 2024 at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven. CT. Known as “Joe” to his many, many friends, Joe arrived in the U.S. from Mumbai, India in 1991 as a teenager, along with his younger sister Hama and brother Isaac. After becoming a U.S. citizen and completing his education, Joe first began his career in banking and finance, but his entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to a series of retail ventures and finally transportation services. He always greeted old friends with hugs and kisses and new friends with a warm smile. Joe made friends easily but, unlike many people, he kept those friendships for years and years. Joe’s family and friends knew that he had a kind heart and generous soul and without question, he will be sorely missed.

Those wishing to pay their last respects to Joe can do so from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT and/or attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Louis, St. John XXIII Parish, 88 Bull Lane, West Haven, CT. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10 o’clock.
