James W. “Jimmy” Ballard, Sr., age 77, of West Haven entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2021. He is survived by his daughters Mary Selmi and Gail Roczynski, son, Michael Ballard, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his brother Neil (Nancy) Ballard Jr. and his many friends from Dunkin Donuts at the beach. Jimmy was predeceased by his son James W. Ballard, Jr.
Jimmy worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 21 years, as a spot welder. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local #1150. Before he began working for Sikorsky, Jimmy was a third generation “Hot Metal” printer. He worked for Courier Citizen Corp. and the New Haven Register, where he served his apprenticeship under his father. He was a member of the International Typographical Union Local #47. Jimmy’s personal quote: “All blue collar workers should belong to a Union”. He will be remembered for his quick wit and hysterical stories.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning October 23 at 9:30 at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St., West Haven. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CT Hospice, Branford.
