Janet T. (Finnegan) Lucente, 91, of West Haven, passed away on September 9, 2023. Born in Long Island City, New York on November 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Amelia F. (Hanson) Finnegan. Survived by daughters Ellen (Mike) Contois of West Haven and Deborah (John) Kurpiewski of Bethany; grandchildren Robert (Sheridan) Goldsmith, Scott Goldsmith, Kaleigh (Adam Roderick) Kurpiewski, Dale Kurpiewski, Christopher (Trista) Howarth, and Natasha Zadrozny; great-grandchildren Louis, Robert, Nicholas, Daniel, Erik, Katerina, and Dominic; several nieces, nephews, godchildren, special Martin Street neighbors, both past and present, as well as dear family friend John Samartino and her “partner in crime”, Rita Finnegan. Preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Eugene E. Lucente; son Eugene E. Lucente II; as well as brothers Arthur G. and John J. Finnegan.
Janet believed in the importance of faith, community involvement and civic responsibility, as illustrated by her membership to the Society of FBI Alumni and St. Theresa’s Guild, as well as volunteer work with Alex’s Soup Kitchen, WHEAT Pantry, and St. Lawrence Church. Janet was a diehard fan of UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball, loved her family, and absolutely adored dancing on any occasion.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, from 9 to 10:30, at which time her procession will depart the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o’clock, in St. John Vianney Church, followed by entombment in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Felicia Boadu, Janet’s caregiver, as well as Constellation Hospice, for their unending devotion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in Janet’s name to Constellation Health Services, 240 Indian River Road, Orange, CT 06477 Attn: Heather Billingham, Memorial Donations.
