Born in Naugatuck on August 8, 1929, Jean graduated from the Union School of Nursing in Albany, NY in 1949. She was a dedicated, lifelong nurse. Her career began at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. Once located In CT. Jean became a staff nurse at Yale-New Haven, before doing private duty nursing at Yale-New Haven and St. Raphael’s. She culminated her career as an Occupational Nurse for Bayer retiring in 1996.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Paula Liner (Tony Zeccola), grandchildren Jennifer Praskievicz, Ryan McGeehan (Rima), Becky Rice, Jeremiah McGeehan (Cidalia), Maggie Robinson (Earl), Zach Dunsing (Emily), Hannah Boger (Erl), fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
For over 65 years, Jean and Paul enjoyed their home in the West Shore section of West Haven. They were very active throughout their lives: enjoying skiing, tennis, beach time at the West Haven beaches, motorcycle riding, square dancing, and playing the organ, just to name a few of their activities. She spent many winters skiing at Mohawk Mountain and in Vermont. In the summer she could be found swimming at the end of Annawon Avenue and vacationing at East Hill Farm in New Hampshire. In her retirement years, Jean moved her daily swimming activity to the West Haven High School pool. She was a beloved resident at her final home, Carriage Green, by the staff and residents where she enjoyed playing bingo, rummikub, pinochle and corn hole.
Her loving granddaughter, Maggie Robinson, and niece, Stella LoGiudice, were forever helping their grandmother as her health declined, especially during her time at Carriage Green, to which Jean was eternally grateful.
