Jean Scionti Rourke, of Sarasota, FL, and West Haven, entered into rest on November 8, 2025, the day before her 96th birthday. She was the widow of Thomas Rourke, Sr.
Jean lived most of her life in West Haven and spent several years living in Florida in the winter months before permanently moving to Sarasota in 2019. She was employed at the City of West Haven Tax Office and then worked as a Bookkeeper for ChemTech for many years.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed square dancing with the West Haven Square Dance Club and going on cruises through the Caribbean with her husband and friends. Later in life, Jean enjoyed the Florida sunshine, her cat Buddy, visits with her caretaker Lori, and participating in the activities at Sarasota Bay Club Inn and Central Park II. Throughout her life, Jean always enjoyed watching and playing along with television game shows – especially Wheel of Fortune – and playing games with friends, including Pinnacle and Rummikub.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Patrick Collins, siblings Marie Scionti (Pogmore) and Louis (the late Linda) Scionti, Jr., and her granddaughter Kari Collins, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by her son Thomas Rourke, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at St. Bernadette Church on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Private burial will take place in All Saints Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Satchel’s Last Resort Rescue and Sanctuary, 8101 Coash Rd., Sarasota, FL 34241, or any charitable cause of your choosing.
