Jerome Anthony Lacobelle, Sr., 93, of West Haven, died on June 4, 2025. Born in New Haven on November 13, 1931, a son of Vincent James and Filomena (DiFilio) Lacobelle. A loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jerome is survived by his sons Jerome Jr. (Rita) and James (AnnMarie) Lacobelle; grandchildren Jerome III, Vincent, Abigail, and Emma; and great-grandchildren Catalina and Filomena. In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his sister Marie.
A lifelong Westie, Jerome was a member of the first graduating class at Notre Dame High School. He later graduated from Providence College and Georgetown Law School. During his 66 years as a practicing attorney, Jerome was a prosecutor for the State of Connecticut for eight years and tirelessly served the City of West Haven as the attorney for Water Pollution Control and as a member of the Sewer Commission. An active member of the ACLU, Jerome was also the Chairman of the Board of Ethics for the City of West Haven. Although his professional and civic activities left little “spare” time, Jerome enjoyed dancing and cheering on his beloved UConn Women’s Basketball team, as well as winters in Florida.
