Joan M. (Patrignani) Montesi

Joan Marie Montesi, 89, of West Haven, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2021 after a short battle with cancer, with her niece Carolyn by her side.  She was the wife of the late Dante Montesi. Born on July 22, 1931, in South Hadley Falls, MA., Joan was a daughter of the late Israel & Natalie Panto Patrignani. Her family moved to West Haven when she was young and in 1950, she graduated from West Haven High School.  After graduation, she began her career at the West Haven VA. and retired in 1989. In addition, Joan served as the treasurer of the state federation of NARFE and local chapter 257.  Although petite in size, Joan’s personality and sense of humor were larger than life.  She loved traveling the world and meeting for her monthly “club girls” lunch.  At home, Joan enjoyed gardening, walks with her dogs and playing dominos with friends, a tradition since junior high. 

Joan leaves her nephew Michael Luzi and Kathleen Foster, niece Carolyn and Peter Fertiguena and their family, Peter Fertiguena Jr., Robb and Rachael Fertiguena and Melissa Fertiguena and Jake Mauro and many other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Adele and Lino Luzi.

Due to the Covid pandemic, a graveside service will take place on Saturday February 13 at 11 o’clock in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  Those who wish to join the procession to the cemetery may meet sharply at 10:20 at the West Haven Funeral Home 662 Savin Ave.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be to CT. Hospice.
