John Richard Muccio

John Richard Muccio, 56, formerly of West Haven, CT, died peacefully at his home in Amityville Village, NY, on January 31, 2025. Born on October 20, 1968, in New Haven, CT, he was the first of two children. A loving brother, uncle, and stepfather, he is survived by his sister, Dani J. Muccio of Amityville Village, NY; his nephews, Dustin, Matthew, and Michael Muccio-Schrimpe of Farmingdale, NY; and his stepchildren, Ashley, Paul, Richard, and Jesse Robles. He was predeceased by his mother, Diane Meier Cadwell, and his father, Danny Muccio.

John worked for American Roofing Company for 28 years and then Baybrook Remodelers for 17 years. He moved to Long Island in 2023 to be closer to his sister and nephews and worked as a maintenance technician for Renaissance Bay Apartments until his passing.

A man whose hands were as skilled as his heart was generous, John could often be found working on a project for a friend, all while regaling them with tales of his near-death adventures. These weren't just tall tales; they were true stories, so incredible you'd swear he'd made them up. It was said he had more lives than a cat, and he lived each one to the fullest, dedicating himself to making a difference in the lives of others. John was a gentle giant who could strike up a conversation with anyone, sing random song lyrics at the top of his lungs without warning, and proudly boast that he could charm even the most unfriendly dog into rolling over for a belly rub. He seemed to possess an endless capacity for kindness, proving time and again that his purpose on this earth was to bring joy and love to those around him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, a testament to a life lived fully and a love freely given.

The memorial on Long Island will be held Thursday, February 20th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Renaissance Bay - Main Clubhouse 200 La Bonne Vie Drive, East Patchogue, New York.

The memorial in Connecticut will be held on Friday, February 21st from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, Connecticut. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 10:00 AM at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, Connecticut.
