John Anthony Sammartino Jr.

John A. Sammartino, 92, of West Haven, passed away on February 1, 2023.  Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Kaspereen) Sammartino. He was a retired accountant for Armstrong Rubber/Pirelli Tires, and a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a proud Alumnus of the University of Connecticut’s School of Business. 

John was an avid fan of UConn Huskies basketball and a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed spending his time reading, completing crossword puzzles, and bird watching. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was predeceased by his devoted sister, Angela (Sammartino) Rousome and his brother-in-law, William F. Rousome. He was a loving Uncle to MaryAnn (Michael) Dumark and the late William J. (Donna) Rousome. He also leaves behind his great-nieces Melissa Dumark and Morgan (Scott) McNamee, and his great-great nephew Flynn. John also leaves behind his dear friends John and Beth Armstrong

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Chistian Burial on Friday at 10am in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
