John Pasquale Tracanna, born March 31, 1929, in New Haven, CT, beloved husband of Josephine (Benoit) Tracanna, passed away on July 26, 2024. Son of the late John and Carmel Belardino Tracanna. He leaves a son John (Dena) Tracanna of San Diego, CA; daughter JoAnn (Daniel) Paoletti of Milford, CT; three grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Conelias of Woodbridge, CT., Garrett Tracanna, and Cameron (Ashley) Tracanna, both of San Diego, CA; as well as three great-grandchildren, Ava and Julia Conelias, and Jameson (Garrett) Tracanna. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine on May 4, 2024, as well as his two brothers Joseph and William Tracanna.
John, affectionately known as "Poppy", owned and operated Colonial Meat Center in Milford, CT for 30 years. John served in the Korean War (1952-1954). He was a member of Zandre’s, the Jolley Timer Club, as well as the West Haven Italian American Club, where he attended numerous social gatherings with his friends throughout his active and longtime membership. John enjoyed walking on the beach and boardwalk, working in the yard, watching his beloved Yankee’s and UConn Woman’s basketball, and spending time with his family and friends at the various Clubs. He and his wife (Josephine) loved to dance, and go on occasional vacations, including trips to Italy, Spain, Aruba, Bahamas, Canada, Hawaii, and many visits to San Diego over the years.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 30th, from 8:30 to 10am. His procession will then depart the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30am, St. Louis Church, West Haven. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
