Joseph Carr III Obituary

Joseph Charles Carr, III, beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, and great uncle entered into eternal rest, Monday, January 20, 2025, with his loving wife Terry (Theresa) and devoted sister Maria, by his side.

Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Charles and Elisa Romano-Carr Jr., born and raised in Savin Rock, West Haven.  One of four children whose childhoods were magical, with memories of all Savin Rock offered in its Hay Day.

As a 47-year employee of the City of West Haven, Joe took enormous pride in keeping the beach, landscaping meticulous.  He was known and befriended by so many who walked the beach area regularly with their pets, got to know him personally, and looked forward to talking to him.  Joe was very well liked by his bosses and co-workers, who became his dear friends.

A Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam War, Joe was enormously patriotic to his country and what the American flag stands for.  He honorably held certification for many years in the state of CT as an NRA instructor, was an amazing teacher and expert sharpshooter that also included archery.

Joe and his loving wife Terry are true animal lovers and have taken care of numerous stray and feral cats by feeding, caring for and rescuing felines throughout West Haven.  Their much-loved pets, Gigi their dog, Ginger, Brobro, Elsa, Dora, Midnight, and Face (Joe’s favorite) were all rescues.

Joe is predeceased by both his parents, Joseph and Elisa Romano-Carr, brothers John Eugene Carr and James (Jamie) Stellato.

Joe loved being surrounded by his family and friends.  His love, laughter, legacy and memories will remain with them forever in their hearts.  He leaves behind his loving wife Terry (Theresa) and her loving family, devoted sister Maria (Robert) Zimmermann, her daughter Heather (Steve) LaScola and their children, Elle, Casey, Van and Brenna LaScola of Melbourne Beach, FL.  His late brother James’ sons, James (Susan) Stellato and their children Jamie, Sarah, John and Samantha Stellato, and Joseph (Rachel) Stellato and their children Ava, Eli, Lincoln and Quinn Stellato of Maine.

Much-loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews:

Hayley (John) Padro, Jaycey Padro and Max (Liz) Padro, Francesca (Joe) Cumberledge and their children Joe-joe and Dominic, Krissy (Mike) DeMasi, John Recchia, Jason (Allison) Forsyth, Dave (Elena) Forsyth and their children, Willa and Declan, Elizabeth (Dustin) Werle and their children Alex and Emilie, Omar Ortiz and Emily.
