Obituary
Joseph D. Gabriel, Jr., 96, of Orange, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Born in Bridgeport on January 5, 1927, a son of the late Joseph and Francis Gabriel of Fairfield, CT. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, June Marie (Grillo) Gabriel; sons James Gabriel and Brett Gabriel; daughters-in-law Valerie Gabriel and Kristin Gabriel; three granddaughters Anna, Mary, and Megan Gabriel; as well as brother Cecil Gabriel. Preceded in death by his daughter Carrie Gabriel.
Upon graduating from Fairfield University, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy, whereby he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was employed with STAR Distributors for 17 years and retired in 1987.
He enjoyed relaxing at the Milford Yacht Club, boating, golfing, and spending winters with his wife at their home in Marimar, Florida.
On Monday, August 14, his funeral mass will commence at 11:30 in St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford. Entombment with military funeral honors will follow in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum, West Haven.
