Joseph Giordano Obituary

Joseph “Richie” Giordano, 84, of New Haven died peacefully on March 7, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is survived by his brother William (Patricia), nieces Marianne, Cynthia and Jamie; nephews Michael, Nicholas, Michael, Joseph and William Jr., many grandnieces and nephews, especially grandniece Sierra, whom he adored, many cousins, his sister-in-law Barbara and dear friend Howard Saroff. A son of the late Nicholas and Anna Giordano, Richie was also predeceased by his siblings Frank, Thomas, Eugene and Angela and his sisters-in-law Eleanor, Ann and Bette. 

Richie graduated from Quinnipiac University with an associate’s degree. He retired from AmeriPride where he worked as a bookkeeper. He had a special bond with his nephew Joey, who was like a son to him. A tennis enthusiast, Richie enjoyed trips to Turning Stone with friends, playing Bingo and spending time at Jolly Times Seniors. He was an avid reader and a fan of old movies. Never to say a bad word about anyone or anything, Richie was friendly and kind and treated everyone with respect.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10 o’clock in St. Vincent dePaul Church, Parish of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in East Haven. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
